Becoming...

The idea of "becoming" is something I've been thinking about and re-visiting a lot in the past year and a half.  Last year, the focus was on becoming a wife, becoming a teacher in a new school and position, and becoming part of a brand-new city.  I quickly realized that myself as a single person couldn't just "mesh" into all the new roles I needed to play; I had to become someone completely new.

"If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation.  The old has gone and all things have become new." 2 Cor. 5:17

The realization of "becoming" was made apparent to me on our 1st anniversary... Our first year was hard and it was largely due to the fact I resisted becoming someone new.  It was at this point in June of this year that I surrendered.  I realized that Allison Williams was a new person -- someone I had never been before and had to become.  It was also this time that I surrendered my time-table and control to my life.  My husband and I agreed that it was time we start praying about starting a family.

God works quickly -- 2 months later, we find we are expecting a brand new family member.  Oh, how the process of "becoming" has expanded to new levels and facets we couldn't have imagined!  We're becoming parents.  We're becoming a new family.  We're becoming "The Williams."

I'm 19 weeks along as I write this blog entry and I hope this will be a place for family and friends to check in our budding family.  As we become someone new and prepare for the new life the Lord has blessed us with, we pray that we will ultimately become more like Him.  We have dedicated our son or daughter to the Lord and pray even now that as this child is molded and shaped inside, that the very nature of God is in his/her frame, that the breath of the Holy Spirit is filling his/her organs, and the blood of Jesus runs throughout his/her tiny body.  We believe this child is fearfully and wonderfully made -- the Lord knows this baby even now by name and already is becoming more of a child of the Most High King.

Thank you for joining us on this journey of becoming....
